Born in the Spring of 1986, Joshua Wendler is the son of an American father, and Panamanian mother. A rich and varied home life fostered an innate ability to switch between worldviews, languages, and cultures. Since childhood, he has been inspired by ideas of identity and transformation, and fascinated by the connection between body ornament and environment.

A passion for travel stimulates a wide spectrum of influences which fuel his creative work.  Precolumbian art, mythology, metamorphic phenomena, architecture, science fiction- to name a few. His work explores the dynamic connection between sacred and mundane.

Josh's work has been featured in several group exhibitions in galleries such as the Curfman Gallery and the Fort Collins Museum of Fine Art in Fort Collins, CO. In addition, he is a part of Colorado State University's permanent collection in a collaboration piece he worked on with fiber artist Stephanie Berganini.
